Report: Wind could supply 40 percent of Iowa energy by 2020

“Iowa could…push its wind-energy mix to 41 percent in 2020 and supply enough power to more than match its energy usage by 2030, with excess energy to export to other states, [according to A Wind Vision for New Growth in Iowa] the American Wind Energy Association said…[That] could create significant benefits for the environment and economy…Iowa consumers could save $3.68 billion in lower electricity bills through 2050…[and] boost property tax revenues for government services $49.1 million annually by 2020 and nearly $137 million annually by 2030…Farmers, ranchers and landowners could see land lease payments climb from $17.1 million annually to nearly $20 million annually by 2020 to $55.5 million annually by 2030…[and] Iowa could save on the amount of water used to generate energy…[and add] 1,400 on-site construction, operations and maintenance jobs by 2030…” click here for more
