    A PLAN FOR BIG WIND IN MAINE

    Plan for Maine’s largest wind farm submitted to regulators

    "Plans to build New England’s largest wind farm in southern Aroostook County were submitted to [the Maine Department of Environmental Protection by developer EDP Renewables. If approved, pre-construction could begin] by the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017…[T]he company is still working with towns in the area on local permitting matters and with the state’s two major utilities — Emera and Central Maine Power Co. — to build a 50-mile transmission line that would connect [the project] to the regional grid in Haynesville…[EDP secured long term contracts for the 250 MW output of the 119 turbine Number Nine Wind Farm from] Connecticut Light and Power and United Illuminating…” click here for more
